Surface and shape rather than functionality are main aspects of my personal interest. My full bodied bottle forms are wheel thrown while my large layered bowls are hand built in strips and inspired by natural and organic forms.

Textured stoneware, crystalline glazes, burnishing, low fired glazes, and saggar smoking are all techniques and processes that I explore in order to create individual surface qualities in my work.

Some of the pieces are experimentally fired in combustible material filled saggars within an electric kiln in order to create a localised reduction atmosphere. This results in a range of extreme changes in surface colouring by altering greens to copper/red in crystalline glazes and the partial blackening of surfaces in low fired, burnished pieces.
